The success of any organisation depends on its leadership. This leadership course affords leaders and aspiring leaders in a range of positions, industries and organisations, the opportunity to analyse key themes within a series of interrelated modules. It will provide you with the tools required to effectively lead your organisation and team to greater efficiency and achievement.
We will explore your personal motivations as you develop a greater understanding of leadership preferences and the impact they have on people. You will have an opportunity to learn about a range of issues in an informed, facilitated dialogue, allowing you to develop practical and tangible approaches for your individual and professional challenges.
Outcomes
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
- identify what it means to be a leader and understand how to become a genuine leader in your organisation
- recognise your own leadership preferences and how to best deploy your strengths to build better more effective teams
- recognise your own motivations and those of your team members, allowing them to tap into those motivations to gain a sense of self achievement
- build productive team environments where team members are given autonomy, mastery and a sense of purpose, again leading to personal commitment…not just compliance
- work more productively across cultural boundaries by understanding key elements of cultural difference and the impact they have on leadership style, communication, decision making, teaming and relationships
- communicate with your stakeholders through the use of a structured stakeholder analysis tool and recommendations on how to deal with the different categories of stakeholder.
Content
Module 1
Explores leadership and what it means to be a leader and moves on to examine teams and team development.
- Understand what it means to be a leader and recognise that leadership and management are complimentary
- Team basics
- Recognise and deal with the stages of team development
- Work with team members in the most effective ways
- Building a performance environment.
Module 2
Using your individual results from the Myers Briggs Type Indicator and a number of highly interactive activities we will start to gain and understanding of self and how this will impact your leadership style. The impact of the individual differences of team members are considered.
- Evaluate and enhance individual leadership to become a self-aware and an innovative leader
- Understand your leadership portfolio and how to best deploy your leadership strengths
- Considers the implications of differences between individuals on a team.
Module 3
Using your individual results from the Strength Deployment Inventory questionnaire we will consider you and your team members' motivations and how to enhance team performance through tapping into individual motivations. We then look at conflict resolution through negotiation.

Module 4
Looks at the implications of culture to leadership and team dynamics and introduces a model of stakeholder analysis.

- Culture can be measured
- How to effectively deal across cultural boundaries

Intended audience
Suitable for anyone in or aspiring to move into a leadership role. The skills and techniques introduced in this course can be transferred across any industry or sector.
Delivery style
Delivered as a combined lecture and interactive workshop. You will be encouraged to share your ideas and background to broaden class discussions.
Before the course
You are required to complete both of the following questionnaires:
- Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (additional fee payable)
- Strength Deployment Indicator (additional fee payable)
Please Note: The results from these questionnaires are critical to parts of the course and must be completed at least 48 hours prior to attendance. If you have already completed the questionnaire within the past 2 years, have access to your results and can bring a copy with you to your course, there is no need to purchase and complete the questionnaire again. If you have not completed the questionnaire previously, or if you have completed the questionnaire more than 2 years ago, please purchase and register for the questionnaire using the relevant link(s) above.
